Giclée Editions

Edition Fantastique

Fine Art Edition

What is a Giclée?

The Giclée art print is a new and contemporary way of printing, meeting the highest requirements of artists and art collectors with respect to graphics.
Giclée comes from the French word ‘gicler’ and means a spray or a spurt of liquid. Using this technique means that several layers of high quality ink are being applied on the art print paper or canvas. The Giclée art form was invented in the 80’s in the US.

The process

The creation of a high quality Giclée starts with the reproduction of the original. The reproduction is as closely matched to the original as possible. Often the artist will manipulate the digital image so that it maintains its very own character. After the artist’s approval, a digital master file is created. This master file is used to create a limited number of art prints. Each art print is created individually and is of a dot free quality. All Giclees are printed in a limited edition and are signed and numbered by the artist.
Our Giclee art prints are being created in association with Re-Art (the Netherlands) who is a member of the Giclee Printers Europe Association.
